A few year ago I stayed in a Trullo in Puglia in Italy. The grounds of the Trullo were planted with a host of exotic plants and trees including a beautiful Pomegranate tree. The tree demanded to be photographed and painted. I hope you like the result.
A Trullo (plural Trulli) is a conical, stone-roofed building unique to the Puglia region of Italy. If you visit Puglia you should spend a day in Alberobello, a UNESCO world heritage site featuring the largest concentration of Trulli. A Trullo typically consists of a whitewashed cylindrical wall. The wall is made up of circles of grey stone that are held in place by lateral opposition and gravity. These stones rise to a pinnacle without the use of mortar. Originating from local Stone Age culture, Trulli are now protected by Italian law as national monuments.
