Explore the Folklore of Crows: Art and Mythology

This unique artwork is a one-of-a-kind piece by Iannello, signed and framed for display. The artwork is perfect for contemporary art enthusiasts looking for a statement piece to add to their collection. The painting comes mounted and framed and includes a certificate of authenticity issued by the artist. This medium-sized artwork is perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to any wall.

This painting captures a moment of stillness suspended between day and night. The sky burns with a deep, glowing orange that slowly softens toward the horizon, suggesting either the last breath of sunset or the first quiet light of dawn. Against this warm expanse, the stark silhouette of a tree branch stretches across the canvas like a dark, calligraphic line—irregular, fragile, yet enduring.

At the center of the composition sits a luminous sun, its bright, circular form partially cradled by the branch. The placement gives the impression that the tree is holding or guarding the light, as if nature itself is pausing to protect a fleeting moment. The bird perched at the edge of the branch introduces a subtle narrative. Its body leans forward, attentive, as though observing the sun’s slow descent or rise, or perhaps contemplating its own place within this quiet scene.

The contrast between the vivid sky and the black silhouettes heightens the emotional tone of the piece. The absence of detail in the tree and bird invites viewers to project their own feelings onto the scene—loneliness, peace, reflection, or quiet resilience. The thin dangling tendrils from the branch add a delicate sense of movement, hinting at a breeze or the passage of time.

Overall, the painting speaks to solitude and contemplation. It invites the viewer to pause, breathe, and witness the beauty of a simple, transient moment—where light, nature, and stillness converge in perfect balance.

I am a British contemporary fine artist creating powerful acrylic paintings inspired by the interaction of light, colour, and perspective in natural and urban landscapes. I am fascinated by nature enjoying woodland, fell and moorland walking which provide a wealth of inspiration for my painting. For me having the time to stop, look and fully appreciate all the wonders of nature –the wildlife, trees and flowers and the interaction of colours and light – is a remarkable gift. I regularly visit family in Italy and Australia both beautiful countries full of artistic inspiration – some of the most spectacular sunsets, landscapes, and seascapes you will see anywhere in the world. My primary medium is acrylics, and I am a member of the Altrincham Society of Artists and the Visual Artists Association. I sign my artwork Iannello, my mother’s maiden name in her memory.
