Original Sunset Seascape Art

A serene sunset over calm waters, featuring silhouetted boats and a vibrant orange and pink sky.

As day fades into evening, the harbour settles into stillness. Warm bands of amber, gold, and deep red stretch across sky and water, dissolving the boundary between the two. The boats rest quietly, reduced to dark silhouettes, their reflections elongated and softened by the gentle movement of the tide. Fine vertical lines suggest masts and rigging, evoking the subtle music of wind chiming through cables—a sound as much felt as heard.

This painting captures a moment of pause at the end of the day, when activity gives way to calm and the world seems to exhale. The simplicity of form and the richness of colour invite the viewer to linger, mirroring the tranquillity of standing by the shore as the sea laps softly and light slowly disappears.

I am a British contemporary fine artist creating powerful acrylic paintings inspired by the interaction of light, colour, and perspective in natural and urban landscapes. I am fascinated by nature enjoying woodland, fell and moorland walking which provide a wealth of inspiration for my painting. For me having the time to stop, look and fully appreciate all the wonders of nature –the wildlife, trees and flowers and the interaction of colours and light – is a remarkable gift. I regularly visit family in Italy and Australia both beautiful countries full of artistic inspiration – some of the most spectacular sunsets, landscapes, and seascapes you will see anywhere in the world. My primary medium is acrylics, and I am a member of the Altrincham Society of Artists and the Visual Artists Association. I sign my artwork Iannello, my mother’s maiden name in her memory.
