There is something ethereal almost spectral about woodland morning mist. Sometimes so low that it is swirling around your legs as you walk, other times all around you so trees seem to appear loom into sight from nowhere. Mist is formed in the morning as the sun rises and the ground warms up. The airContinue reading “Woodland Mist”

Beach Sunrise
How many of us I wonder regularly see the sun rise each morning. The dawning of a new day when the weather is fine is a beautiful thing to witness. Emotionally different to a sunset not least because this is a new beginning and not an end. I hope I have managed to capture aContinue reading “Beach Sunrise”

In search of food
Eagle is the common name for a wide variety of magnificent birds of prey. The name does not denote a natural group but rather any bird of prey large enough to hunt sizeable prey, although the eagle in this painting looks to be struggling in its search for food. Eagles can be found in allContinue reading “In search of food”
La Briscola e il Telefonino
Last year I was sitting outside a bar in Calabria enjoying a cold beer on a beautiful summer’s day in August. There were two groups near me at adjacent tables and I was fascinated by the vastly different level of social interaction within each group. To my right were seven local men playing “La Briscola”Continue reading “La Briscola e il Telefonino”
Iannello Artwork
From time to time I have been asked why I sign my paintings Iannello. Iannello (also spelt Ianniello) was my wonderful mother’s maiden name and I proudly use it in her memory. Her full name was Letteria Iannello and she was born in Sicily. According to the House of Names the surname Iannello originated inContinue reading “Iannello Artwork”
