This is a view of Southwark Bridge looking in a westward direction with St Paul’s cathedral in the distance. At dusk the bridge starts a light show, an amazing sight and experience as the lights are softly reflected on the Thames. As the night darkens the lights colours and reflections become more prominent but inContinue reading “Southwark Bridge”

Freedom
In this painting I was trying to capture a sense of unfettered freedom. A moment in time – the rider and horse at sunset on a beach without any cares or restrictions – in total harmony with nature and living in and for the present moment. Original artwork 18 x 14 in – £190 unframedContinue reading “Freedom”

Joppolo is a beautiful, tranquil town in Calabria, southern Italy. Lungomare is a seafront road of several kilometres that is a favourite morning walk for locals and visitors alike. I have tried to capture the key features along Lungomare in a single painting. I hope you like the result.

Mist is formed in the morning as the sun rises and the ground warms up. The airContinue reading “Woodland Mist”
In search of food
Eagle is the common name for a wide variety of magnificent birds of prey. The name does not denote a natural group but rather any bird of prey large enough to hunt sizeable prey, although the eagle in this painting looks to be struggling in its search for food. Eagles can be found in allContinue reading “In search of food”
La Briscola e il Telefonino
Last year I was sitting outside a bar in Calabria enjoying a cold beer on a beautiful summer’s day in August. There were two groups near me at adjacent tables and I was fascinated by the vastly different level of social interaction within each group. To my right were seven local men playing “La Briscola”Continue reading “La Briscola e il Telefonino”
Mother and Child
I painted “Mother and Child” over 50 years ago. It was my first serious portrait painting and I remember being very unsure of my ability to capture the proud and resolute look on mother’s face. Unfortunately the surface was damaged some years ago whilst the painting was in storage
